The North Devon-based artist Nigel Mason was born in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, in 1952. From an early age, Nigel taught himself to paint and this was his major hobby when he moved to Devon in 1982. The landscape of North Devon inspired him to take his painting more seriously.
In 2001 he obtained a Degree in Fine Art from Plymouth University and started teaching art at the North Devon College in Barnstaple.
Today Nigel lives and works from his studio in Ilfracombe, painting landscapes, beach scenes, figures and portraits.
This website showcases just a small sample of Nigel's work, majoring on
the VW Campervan Art for which Nigel is most famous. Look closer, and
you'll see that Nigel's accomplished skill and technique as a painter spans a broad range of genres, displaying his unique eye for simplicity,
honesty, form and light.
